Betty Blocks is a leading enterprise no-code platform for citizen development. They've been named a Leader in The Forrester Wave and have raised funding of $33 million in 2021. Since October 2021 I've taken on the position of leader of the design department and over the next months we've professionalized the way of working drastically. Coming from a mentality of "you ask, we deliver", where everyone was working on their own in different teams, we've gradually changed to a design first approach. Working in a team with clear design guidelines to improve consistancy. With this, we've sped up delivery and implemented better validation with regular usability testing.
We've changed software from Sketch to Figma, created a comperhensive design system and wrote guidelines in frontify for the platform's design patterns. With regular testing in lookback.com and sending out maze.co survey's, we ensured a good fit with our users.
Over the time I worked for Betty Blocks, it was not only the way of working that changed, but also the design team members themselves. This gave me great energy to continue the journey we were on together and improved the overall happiness in working together. With the addition of two new designers the team expanded, and with all the challenges and overcoming them, I've had a great time working for Betty Blocks!
